Who am I ?

My name is Erez Michaely. I was born in 1982 in Holon, Israel. I recieved my Ph.D in astrophysics from the Technion in July 2017. I am a postdoc at the University of California, Los Angeles.  I am married to Nitzan and Or's and Gilad's father.

Research Interests

Astrophysics is interesting generally, of course.

Specifically, I am interested in triple systems, dynamics and evolution.

Gravitational wave sources. Stellar collisions, particularly white-dwarf - main sequence collision. Type Ia SN. Collisional dynamics in the field of the galaxy. The effect of pre-main sequence phase on the evolution of triple and planet formation. Planetary dynamics.

Things I enjoy

Prime numbers

A prime number is a natural number greater than 1 that has no positive divisors other than 1 and itself. Sounds simple enough, right?
The Greeks (!) knew that they are infinite prime numbers and since then we are looking to find them and understand them. Maybe the greatest unsolved mystery in science. Check one of my favorite channel in Youtube on numbers and learn a lot on numbers and prime numbers.

Basketball

Basketball is my favorite sport. I am a true fan of Maccabi Tel-Aviv and the L.A. Lakers. Learn about Maccabi

Hiking

My wife and I love hiking in Israel and other places in the world. You can catch a glimpse at some of our hikes in the photo gallery.

Teaching

Teaching is one of my passions. During the years I taught mathematics in elementary school, science in the Technion youth center. TA in the Technion in the years 2009-2014 and more.
I also voluntarily give lectures in high schools and mid schools on physics, science and mathematics, emphasizing the importance of women in science.

History

The history of mankind fascinates me. Science advancements and history goes hand in hand. I recommend the book "Sapiens". Below you will find a link to a Wikipedia description of the book.

Music

The taste of life. I enjoy music a lot. The Beatles, REM, Depeche Mode, Radiohead are just some examples. In the link you will find a recent playlist I have made in Youtube.
